Just a couple of days ago, Rishi Kapoor lashed out at the media for the coverage on the late actress Sridevi. The actor’s pain point was the usage of word ‘body’ for the Chandni actress’ mortal remains. And now, veteran Hema Malini, who has been a close friend of the lat actress, has asked the media to show some restrain in covering the tragic incident and not analyze or belittle her passing away.
In a series of tweets, Hema Malini wrote, “A beautiful girl, a wonderful actress, a lovely human being – Sridevi -has so suddenly been snatched from our midst. What is most needed now is compassion for her 2 young girls deprived of their mother and for her grieving husband.” She further highlighted how the entire film fraternity is still coming to terms with what has happened. “The whole film industry is trying to come to terms with this tragedy. We have lost a wonderful member whose life has been dedicated to the entertainment field for so many decades. It is only right that we be allowed to grieve in peace,” she said, further adding that it is imperative to show Sridevi the respect she deserves.
“This is not the time to analyze the reasons or belittle her passing away. Let us instead resolve to bestow on her the dignity of death & show her the respect she deserves. We owe it to her,” said Bollywood’s dream girl. Sridevi died in Dubai on Saturday night and the delayed process of handing over her mortal remains to the family and the intervention by the Dubai police gave rise to a lot of unnecessary speculations. Hema’s tweets came in the wake of all those rumours and conspiracy theories that have been doing the rounds. Designer Manish Malhotra, for whom Sridevi has been a muse, also seconded Hema’s thoughts and tweeted, “I couldn’t have said it better myself.”
