Bollywood playback singer, Sunidhi Chauhan, has given us some unforgettable melodies such as ‘Aaj Ki Raat’, ‘Mehboob Mere’, ‘Mast’ , to name a few. She will now be seen as the judge in the upcoming music reality show, The Remix, which will stream on Amazon Prime Video India. The experience of her shooting for this show, has been nothing short of exceptional. She was pregnant, back in the time and said that she was in absolute ease as, unlike TV shows, emphasis was given on the music, than her looks.
Hosted by TV actor, Karan Tacker, The Remix, is a show that consists of ten teams, each consisting of a singer and a DJ and they will have to work on a Bollywood song and recreate it to make it sound like a brand new song. Sunidhi, will be accompanied by music director Amit Trivedi and electronic music producer, Udyan Sagar, aka Nucleya. “We are not there to judge them. We will help them get better,” she says, adding that it’s a show one has never seen before. “It’s a unique and interesting format and I was really excited to be a part of the show. Also when I got to know that I will be sharing the panel with Amit and Nucleya, I was excited. I had amazing time on the show. We celebrated music like never before. Additionally, the ‘Remix’ is a visual treat–you’ve got to see it to know what I’m talking about. Right from the graphics to the lights to the styling is top notch, and it’s almost at par with the international standards,” she says.
The acclaimed singer, has been part of a number of reality series, but never before has she shot for the digital platform. Ask her what she prefers more–TV or the digital media, and pat comes her reply. “Digital is the future. It is our tomorrow. I prefer digital any day over TV as it has more freedom. One can experiment with the material without following a fixed format . Moreover it’s easily accessible,” she explains. The “Sheila Ki Jeewani” singer gave birth to a baby boy on January 1 and interestingly had shot for this ‘one-of-a-kind’ show during her last stage of pregnancy. Ask her about it and she’ll say, “I felt healthy till the last month, and so shot for it till the last month. I did not let my pregnancy hold me back. It was as normal as ever. Moreover, the people on the sets made it really easy for me.”
Last, but not the least, ask her about Bollywood’s latest trend of coming up with a rehashed/remixed version of an old number in every film, and she quips, “To be honest this trend started a long time ago. Yes, off late the industry has started coming up with more of these remixed-rehashed versions. Ideally, I prefer singing an original song but if a remixed version is tastefully done, I don’t think then it should be a problem.” The show will start streaming on Amazon Prime Video India from today.
