Sunny Leone has been one of the few celebrities who have consistently associated with PETA in its fight against animal cruelty. The actress recently did a photo shoot with PETA (People For Ethical Treatment of Animals), to encourage vegetarianism among people. Through her shoot she urges people to stop eating meat and discourages the infuriating way these animals are mistreated.
For the upcoming World Environment Day on June 5, PETA collaborated with Sunny for a poster where Sunny is seen lying on a bed of red hot chillies with a tag line that reads Spice Up Your Life!’ – ‘Go Vegetarian.’
The actress also posted a video on YouTube where she talks about her concern towards this cruelty. She mentions the harsh treatment animals in the meat industry go through before they reach your plates. She says, “Animals suffering in the meat industry is probably one of the saddest things that I have ever seen. I have seen things I can’t erase from my mind which made me stop eating meat”. The actress has now turned vegetarian for this cause. She also revealed how turning vegetarian has changed her life. “I’ve noticed I have a lot more energy, I’m eating a lot more vegetables, I feel actually really, really amazing,” confessed Sunny.
Apart from animal cruelty, Sunny also mentioned how there are a lot of other issues such as birth control for dogs and cats and how sterilising them is important. “I believe that every single dog should be spayed and neutered. And spaying and neutering also keeps them healthy. It prevents them from having different diseases that they can get if they’re not,” she said.
Sunny then added, “I believe in not buying but adopting dogs. And I will keep repeating that one should adopt dogs and cats one million times until it gets into your mind. They just need our love and if you can rescue an animal then it will be the greatest gift you can give somebody.” The woman is not all about words, as she’s also adopted two dogs, one from the street, and one feeding on trash which she spotted.
Sunny Leone is much more than what we see on the big screen and is using her influence and fan following to inspire people to follow in her footsteps and be compassionate towards animals.
