When Hrithik Roshan was first approached to play the role of the maths genius, Anand Kumar, popular for his IIT coaching classes for the underprivileged students, we had our doubts if he would be able to pull of the character. After all, the actor had never played a role like that. However, when the first look of Hrithik from the film released a few days ago, we were left speechless. And if you think he looked absolutely unrecognizable in that pic, you’ve got to see the one that released a few days ago. The actor has undergone a drastic transformation for his role in Super 30 and his latest still has left us mighty impressed. The actor is seen riding a cycle, selling papad on the streets. To see the actor, who is often referred to as the Greek God of Bollywood, pull off such a role is going to be interesting to watch.
Anand was not always the popular mathematician-turned-teacher that he is today. He has had to struggle quite a bit to reach the stature he has today. From the pic, we can make out that during the initial days of his career, Anand would sell papads to make ends meet. Hrithik’s look from the recent pic is unbelievable. No one, at first, had thought he would be able to pull off the role so convincingly. Later, Anand Kumar himself issued a statement that stated that he approved Hrithik’s look from the film. “Barely a few moments ago when (Vikas) Bahl sent me the snap of the first look of Hrithik Roshan before the start of shooting, I was truly amazed,” he wrote on Facebook.
Super 30, is a biopic on Anand Kumar’s life, and chronicles the journey of how he tutored the kids from impoverished families, by helping them crack one of the toughest entrance exams–IIT JEE. Anand, like we just said, was very happy with Hrithik playing him on screen. He had said, “I am happy that Hrithik will play me because he is the best choice for the role. His dedication towards his work and the kind of versatility he exhibits as an actor is very inspiring. Being a rooted and passionate person myself, I feel that he will bring an emotional depth to my life on screen. I am excited to see Hrithik as Anand Kumar essaying my emotional journey. I totally trust Vikas with my story and I am confident that he will make a sensible and heartfelt film about me and what I strive to do.” Well, let’s hope Super 30 manages to impress the critics and audiences alike, much like Hrithik’s last outing, Kaabil, directed by Sanjay Gupta, that released exactly a year ago.
