It’s a sad day for all the Taarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashmah fans as the inspiration behind the show is dead. The famous columnist Taarak Mehta died today at the age of 87, he was suffering from prolonged illness. His death has actually made each and everyone immensely sad. Taarak Mehta was known to be one of the most humorous people; he was the person who always looked at the brighter side of the life. He is best known for the column Duniya Ne Undha Chasma in the Gujarati language. He had translated and adapted several comedies in Gujarati, he was a very popular figure in the Gujarat theatre as well.
Taarak Mehta’s humors weekly column first appeared in Chitralekha in March 1971, which is almost 30 years back and since then he has been looking at all the contemporary issues from a different perspective which only brings smile on our faces. He is the inspiration behind the popular show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. The show has been entertaining us since 8 years now and we will immensely miss this legend. Taarak Mehta was also felicitated by Padma Shri award in 2005; it is the fourth highest civilian award in India. Indeed this man is, was and will be an inspiration to all of us till eternal.

Talking about his personal life, he belongs to a Nagpur community and lived in Gujarat since 2000. It is said that he had two wives, first wife Ila who later married to Manohar Doshi died in 2006. He stayed with his second wife Indu over 30 years now. He has three kids Ishani from his first wife who lives in US. Kushaan and Shailee from second wife Indu. We salute the legend and pray for his soul to rest in peace.
