Karan Johar is back with the new season of Calling Karan. The radio show has the filmmaker solving the love problems of the listeners, who make a call to him, put their queries forward and the man solves them.
Karan is often praised for giving answers by sharing anecdotes from his life with the listeners. In the latest episode as well, Karan said something really interesting. While answering a question, he gave an example of his little daughter, Roohi Johar, and actress Kareena Kapoor Khan’s son, Taimur Ali Khan.
One of the listeners on the show asked him what if she has fallen in love with the person who was once her Rakhi-brother? Karan, continuing with his honest opinion streak, expressed that it’s a society’s problem in general and the woman doesn’t need to worry about it. He said, “When a guy and a girl are together they immediately ask us to call each other brother or sister. Yahi problem hai… humare desh mein, jab ladka ladki ek saath hote hai toh immediately bolte hai ki bhaiya bolo didi bolo, kisi buzurg ko bolo aunty bolo uncle bolo…aisa bilkul nahi hai [This is the problem in the country. They immediately ask us to address the person of the other sex as ‘brother’ or ‘sister’.]”.
He, then, mentioned the names of the babies and shared, “Jaise mere do bache hai…jaise Taimur aa jata hai toh the nurses start saying arre Taimur ko bolo bhaiya bole….20 saal ke baad Taimur Roohi ke saath rehna chahta hai,,,, kuch bhi ho sakta hai,,,,unka kuch apna ho sakta haina….hum abhi se kyu daal rahe hai daraar uss raastein mein [Take my two kids for instance… whenever Taimur visits them, the nurses ask my kids to address him as ‘elder brother’. Now, what if after 20 years, Taimur and Roohi decide to be together? They have all the rights to have their own kind of relationship, right? Who are we to define these relationships for them by saying such things?]”.
Well… now that’s some advice!
