The story of Tamasha is about a guy names Ved (Ranbir Kapoor), who is a real free spirit and doesn’t care about what the world thinks of him. While he is in Corsica, he meets Tara (Deepika Padukone) and as we see in the trailer, they decide to not reveal anything about themselves to each other. They introduce themselves as ‘Don’ and ‘Mona Darling’ and continue to stay with each other in Corsica for a week. Exploring the beautiful locales of the island, Ved and Tara spend their holiday together. However, Tara soon realizes that she has fallen in love with Ved and she decides to leave Corsica and go back to India. Despite of several attempts, she cannot get over Ved. Few years pass by and she meets Ved again. However, he is not the same guy she met in Corsica. Something has changed about Ved and that is very unsettling for her. When Tara comes back in his life, she makes him realize that he is not what the world tells him to be. She makes him realize that he is a rare bird, an extraordinary being.
The first half of Tamasha is confusing and can draw a negative response from viewers. However, it is only in the second half of the movie that you get to know where the story is going.
Ranbir Kapoor hogs all the limelight in this Imtiaz Ali directorial, overshadowing Deepika completely. Ranbir, who’s previous movies have tanked at the Box Office, performs brilliantly in Tamasha. We don’t know if the audience will like the movie or not, but Ranbir’s performance definitely deserves all the praise. He moulds himself into the character very effortlessly and his acting looks genuine.
As we reported to you earlier, Matargashti is one of the best songs from Tamasha. Apart from that, Safarnama and Agar Tum Saath Ho lift the music album of Tamasha. ALSO READ: Tamasha music review: Matargashti stands out in an average compilation of songs
The plot of Tamasha is brilliant- kudos to Imtiaz Ali! But the execution is not up to the mark. Ranbir and Deepika look picture perfect, as expected. It is not an ordinary love story even though it may look like one. For all those who like performance driven films, Tamasha is a must-watch!
