Veteran Director R.Thyagarajan passed away on Sunday morning due to heart attack, in Chennai. The funeral was held at the mausoleum cemetery earlier this morning.

Thyagarajan was one of the most prominent producers of the Tamil film industry and has produced many films starring MGR, Kamal Hassan and Rajnikanth. In Thyagarajan’s Ranga, Rajinikanth was seen playing the role of a gangster. The story revolves around two separated siblings of which one grows up to be a full time ‘thug.’  The film is remembered for the song Pattukottai Ammalu,  composed by Sankar Ganesh.

Thyagarajan is the son-in-law of legendary producer Chinappa Devar of Devar films. Thyagarajan has directed many famous films like Annai Oru Aalayam, Ranga, Thaai Vedu, Ram Lakshmanan, Thaai Illamal Naan Illai and many more.
