Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar‘s most anticipated film 2.0 that kept postponing its release dates since 2017 has finally booked the date of November 29, 2018, for its final release. The film was earlier supposed to hit theatres on Diwali, 2017 and then got postponed to Republic Day 2018 but failed due to incompletion of VFX. Earlier this year, the makers again announced the release date as April 27 but failed again for the same reason. The makers have now picked a release date for the teaser which is August 15 during Independence Day. Akshay’s Gold will also be hitting the screens the same day.
This sci-fi thriller is the first Indian film to be completely shot in 3D and will release in 3D formats in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. The lead actor in the movie will be Amy Jackson. Apart from Akshay, Rajinikanth and Amy, Adil Hussain and Sudhanshu Pandey will also be seen in pivotal roles. While Rajnikanth will be playing the role of Dr Vaseegaran and Chitti, Akshay will be seen playing the role of an ornithologist as an antagonist.
Until now, the makers have left no stone unturned to promote the film. Be it the large-scale promotional activities that they undertook a long time ago to market the film, or even the grand and extravagant audio launch, that was held on October 27th last year, they have done everything to give the film the publicity it deserves. Not just that, they even prepared 100-foot-tall hot air balloon with images of the characters of Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar in the film. Bankrolled by Lyca Productions, the film has been made on an estimated budget of Rs 400 crore, making it one of the most expensive films ever made in India.
Helmed by Shankar, 2.0 is the sequel of the 2010 sci-fi movie Enthiran which starred the Thalaiva star opposite the stunning Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The Hindi name of the movie was called Robot.
