Sab TV’s Taarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashmah is probably one of the most sought after shows on Indian television. The show never ceases to grow old and boring for the audiences who absolutely love the show. Jetha Lal and Daya Ben, the famous Gujarati couple of Gokhuldaam society, is perhaps everyone’s favourite on the show. Daya aka Disha Vakani was on a maternity break and had not been replaced by anyone. In fact even during her pregnancy, Disha shot a few scenes, as per her convenience and the makers were reportedly very understanding. Disha, who got hitched to Mayur Pandya on November 24, 2015, gave birth to a baby girl on November 30, 2017. Now it’s been a while since then and the buzz around her making a comeback on the show has picked up. However, a few reports suggest that she may quit the show to take care of her baby.
As per a report in Timesofindia.com, Disha, who took her break from September last year hasn’t said anything about returning to the show yet. Disha’s character on the show is quite popular, and the makers were of the opinion, that her exit would cause the TRP ratings to fall. However, the show continued to do well, even with her absence. The leading entertainment portal quoted the show’s producer as saying, “The shooting conditions are tough and since Disha’s baby is still very young she needs her. We haven’t discussed about her return yet and there is no official confirmation on Disha quitting Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.”
Tarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashma is one of the highest ranking shows in the TRP charts. It is one of the longest running scripted show on Indian television. The show is based on the column Duniya Ne Undha Chashma written by columnist and journalist Taarak Mehta, for Gujarati weekly magazine Chitralekha. Mehta passed away on March 1, 2017. He was a recipient of one of the highest civilian awards in the country.
