To be bankrolled by Fox Star Studios, debutant Mukesh Chhabra’s film is a Hindi remake of the 2014 Hollywood film The Fault In Our Stars and the film is all set to go on floors soon. While Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput has been confirmed (as the leading man) to feature in the official Hindi adaptation of the Hollywood romantic saga, the hunt for his leading lady was on. However, the makers have found their leading lady and it is a fresh face opposite Sushant in the film. None other than newbie Sanjana Sanghi, who was seen in brief roles in Rockstar, Hindi Medium and Fukrey Returns has been roped in to play the female lead.
Speculations about who will be seen opposite Sushant in the film have been rife for quite some time with the names of a few actresses doing the rounds already. However, according to latest reports, the makers have zeroed in on Sanjana Sanghi, who was seen in brief roles in Rockstar, Hindi Medium and Fukrey Returns. Yes you read that right. Casting director Mukesh Chhabra, who will be making his directorial debut with the film, confirmed the news to Mumbai Mirror.
In a statement to the daily, Chhabra said, “I met Sanjana while casting for Rockstar and found her to be a dynamic girl with great energy. After a few years, she reconnected for a few ad jobs and this time she came across as a mature young lady and to my surprise, a fabulous actor. I knew instantly that I would love to make a film with her one day. Once The Fault in Our Stars script was ready, she fit right in. She’s the perfect face and I can’t wait to create magic with this talented girl.”
Rucha Pathak, chief creative officer, Fox Star Studios, that is producing the film, informed that Chhabra had called the actress one day to meet Sanjana. Speaking of Sanjana, Pathak told the daily, “She has a striking yet innocent personality but her screen-test really caught my eye. The 2014 film revolves around Hazel Grace Lancaster (played by Shailene), a 16-year-old cancer patient, who is forced by her parents to attend a support group, where she meets and subsequently falls in love with Augustus Waters (played by Ansel), another cancer patient. The Hollywood movie received worldwide recognition with strong critical and commercial success for its portrayal of a sensitive and unique love story. Helmed by Josh Boone, The Fault in Our Stars is a 2014 American romantic drama film based on the novel of the same name by John Green. Besides Shailene and Ansel, the film also features Nat Wolff, Laura Dern, Sam Trammell, and Willem Dafoe in supporting roles. Watch this space for further updates.
