Salman Khan is back and how! After the disappointment that was his previous release this year, Tubelight, the superstar went back to formula to win back his fans and so he did. The superstar, along with Katrina Kaif came out with a swashbuckling performance in Tiger Zinda Hai and has the moolah rolling in again. Tiger Zinda Hai has raced up to Rs 100 crore in the opening weekend itself and though it is quite impressive for the crowds to see, its profit margin is even more so for producers Yash Raj Films.

The production cost of Tiger Zinda Hai comes up to Rs 130 crore in all, with Rs 20 crore dedicated only to the film’s promotions, print, and advertising. And given these relatively small figures, the film has not only already retained its production costs, but also made a fat profit over that. And when it comes to ensuring the cash register keeps ringing, the presence of the likes of Salman Khan helps. A source in the know tells Deccan Chronicle, “The satellite rights of the film, and the digital rights of it, come close to Rs 80 crore, easily.” Tiger Zinda Hai also had a great deal with the Abu Dhabi government where Yash Raj Films needn’t have to pay a penny out of their pockets, and would be handled for the cost of production in the capital. “So even though their last four films — Befikre, Qaidi Band, Bank Chor and Meri Pyaari Bindu — didn’t do well at the box office, Tiger Zinda Hai has made them richer on all counts,” the source added.

After raking in Rs 34.10 crore on Friday, Rs 35.30 crore on Saturday, and Rs 45.53 crore on Sunday, the total came up to Rs  114.93 crore, with the film now already running in profit – and with the numbers of Christmas day yet to come in. Christmas is surely treating Salman and Yash Raj very, very well this year. Keep following for more updates.
