Akshay Kumar – Bhumi Pednekar’s Toilet: Ek Prem Katha has been rock solid at the box office since its release. Despite a slow start, the film grew over the weekend thanks to good word of mouth. After making Rs 83.45 crore in five days, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha made another Rs 6.50 crore on day six. With this, the six-day total of the film now stands at Rs 89.95 crore. The film released in over 3000 screens in India.
Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is all set to enter the Rs 100 crore club hopefully by end of day 7, i.e today. The Parsi New Year holiday may boost the collections of the film. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to update about TEPK’s latest box office numbers. He wrote, ” #ToiletEkPremKatha maintains STRONG trending on Wed, a day after collecting a mammoth sum on Tue [Independence Day]… #TEPK. #ToiletEkPremKatha is a SMASH HIT… Fri 13.10 cr, Sat 17.10 cr, Sun 21.25 cr, Mon 12 cr, Tue 20 cr, Wed 6.50 cr. Total: ₹ 89.95 cr. #TEPK. He further added, “Success of #Dangal, #JollyLLB2, #BKD, #Baahubali2, #HindiMedium and #ToiletEPK indicates that well-made desi stories are being lapped up.”
Akshay Kumar‘s latest social drama is being helmed by Shree Narayan Singh and has been made on a budget of just Rs 18 crore. The film is doing well not just in India, but in the overseas markets as well. TEPK had made Rs 14.59 crore overseas until Monday. Going by the current trends, this one will finally bail Bollywood out of the dull phase it is going through. This Friday there are no big releases except for Ayushmann Khurrana, Kriti Sanon and Rajkummar Rao’s Bareilly Ki Barfi and Gurinder Chadha’s Partition: 1947 hitting the screens, so this will further help the box office numbers of Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar’s Toilet: Ek Prem Katha to grow over the weekend.
