Evaluating weekly how the shows are faring, the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC)has come out with their statistically maintained list for the first week of this year that shows Indian Idol 10’s grand finale to top the list of most watched shows in the last week of December. The grand finale, which was a three-hour long episode, raked in big numbers, taking the singing reality series to the top slot.
Earlier, the lead was maintained by Anita Hassanandani and Surbhi Jyoti’s supernatural drama Naagin 3 but now it has dropped down to the second position though it stays far ahead from the other shows. Kundali Bhagya, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and Kumkum Bhagya still remain rank holders in the list of top five shows.
While Parth Samthaan, Hina Khan and Erica Fernandes starrer Kasautii Zindagii Kay had witnessed a four steps leap in the TRP list last week, the show, in the recent list, sees a major drop as it makes an exit from the top 10 shows. Reality shows like Dance Plus 4 and the recently ended Bigg Boss 12, continue to be at the bottom positions on the chart.
In the urban division, Indian Idol, Naagin 3 and Kundali Bhagya rule the top three positions respectively while the forerunners in the rural sector include Kumkum Bhagya, Ramayan and Ek Main Aur Ek Tu as top three respective leads.
With the new listings out, Star Plus channel has been declared to reign and to be numero uno in the urban market viewership followed by Sony TV, Zee TV and Colors channel while in the rural division, Zee Anmol, Sony Pal and STAR Utsav are placed in the top positions. The urban segment’s top 10 most-watched channels were STAR Plus, Sony Entertainment Television, Zee TV, Colors, STAR Bharat, SONY SAB, STAR Utsav, Sony Pal, Zee Anmol and &TV, in order of TRPs. The top 10 most watched channels in the rural segment were Zee Anmol, Sony Pal, STAR Utsav, Dangal TV, Rishtey, STAR Bharat, Zee TV, Big Magic, STAR Plus and Colors channel as per TRPs.
