Kumkum Bhagya actress Leena Jumani aka Tanu is quitting the show. She confirmed the news to Telly Chakkar recently and revealed that the 20-year leap is the reason behind her decision. The actress later talked to Spotboye and explained how she doesn’t want to be portrayed as a 51-year-old woman at the age of 28 and therefore, she’s quite adamant about not being a part of the show if the makers are planning a leap.
Leena, however, said that she has no hard feelings for anyone on the show and she’s sure to be leaving on good terms. Small screen’s Tanu also revealed that while she has conveyed her decision to the production, she hasn’t received any response yet.
Leena was quoted by Spotboye saying, “I don’t want to play a 51-year old woman, for now at least. I am not saying what I will do after 2-3 years in my career. But for now, I don’t feel from within that I should age by 20 years in the show. I guess I am already 30-31 in the show now. FYI, I was earlier shown as 22-23 and I did the 7-year leap without any fuss, lekin ab iske aage nahin please.”
She added that she won’t stop paying visits to her friends even after leaving the show. Leena said, “I can always come on the sets and meet my friends whenever I want. I won’t leave on a bad note. So of course, I am attached. But I have been asked to do something jiske liye mera mann nahin maan raha. I wouldn’t have left if things hadn’t changed. This is the only reason why I have decided to leave.”
Leena’s character is quite integral to the plot of Kumkum Bhagya considering she’s the main antagonist on the show. For those who have not been following the popular daily soap, it’s a love triangle between Abhi, Pragya and Tanu. It all started when Abhi fell in love with Tanu, but, married Pragya due to family pressure. However, he later realised that Pragya is the woman of her dreams and Tanu has been conspiring to get married to him only for money and stardom.
