It is a second weekend completed for ‘Thala’ Ajith’s comeback film Vivegam, and the film is making its mark well. Rather too well in fact. So much so, that it is leaving SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali behind now. Well, at least in one city. The film is doing very well. Earning Rs 8.50 crore in Chennai, as opposed to Rs 8.25 crore of Baahubali.
Vivegam is Thala’s comeback film and is making all the noise one may have expected. So it was natural that the film has crossed Rs 100 crore mark in its first weekend at the box office. It earned a whopping Rs 69.60 crore in India and Rs 36.50 crore overseas. And these numbers come after mixed reviews about the film. Some reviewers were wooed successfully, however, some thought this was merely an ode to Thala, where he plays the role of an Interpol officer.
This is the first Tamil film which crossed Rs 100 crore after the implementation of GST. The film which released across 3000 screens in the country, also received a massive response in the advanced booking option before the film’s release. The film also stars an ensemble of actors like Kajal Aggarwal, Akshara Haasan, and Vivek Oberoi. The film earned Rs 33.08 crore on its opening day in total.
