The highly-anticipated spy thriller of Thala (Ajith), Vivegam finally hit the screens on August 24. It’s been 10 days of release and today being the 11th day, Ajith’s Vivegam is still dominating the Chennai box office as the film has grossed Rs 152 crore at the worldwide Box office. The film had grossed over 100 Crore within four to five days of its release; it raked in 69 Crore in India while grossed Rs 36 Crore overseas.

Vivegam has broken quite a few records. It has left Rajinikanth’s Kabali and Baahubali behind. Also, this is the first Tamil film, which has crossed Rs 100 crore mark after the implementation of GST. Ajith’s film has certainly continued to be in the top position in the city (Chennai), enjoying good occupancy rates in theatres.

Thala’s much-awaited film, made all the noise one may have anticipated. Besides Ajith Kumar, Vivegam features Bollywood star Vivek OberoiKajal Aggarwal and Kamal Haasan’s youngest daughter Akshara Haasan in pivotal roles. The spy thriller, which was released across 3000 screens in the country, is helmed by director Siva; Vivegam marks the third collaboration of the actor and the director Vedhalma and Veeram.

While Vivegam was successful in wooing some of the viewers as they said that action is what Thala’s film promises and Vivegam is worth every penny”, while some others felt that Ajith’s screen presence and action sequences get a thumbs up, while the plot of the action thriller wasn’t impressive. Yet the moving has been really doing well at the box office. Not just Ajith’s on-screen performance was appreciated but also the DOP, VFX editor, music composer Anirudh Ravichander and the director Siva have been praised for executing the flick so beautifully.

Watching Ajith essaying the role of a high-profile intelligence officer was certainly a treat. The film is made on a lavish budget of over Rs 100 crore but by the looks of the BO reports, it seems that every penny will be recovered.
