South actress, Priya Prakash Varrier, who rose to instant stardom after her wink in the song Manikya Malaraya Poovi, from her upcoming Malayalam debut, Oru Adaar Love, went viral, has reportedly managed to impress even Bollywood producer/filmmaker, Karan Johar. According to a report in Deccan Chronicle, the 18-year-old actress has been approached for a role opposite Ranveer Singh in Rohit Shetty’s upcoming film, Simmba.
A source in the know of the development told Deccan Chronicle, “The girl’s role is not so big in the film. But Priya has become an overnight craze with the wink of an eye. Bollywood is interested in her. And who better equipped to consolidate Priya’s supremacy in the virtual world in the arena of cinema than Karan Johar?” Helmed by Rohit Shetty and co-bankrolled by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, Simmba is said to be an out and out action entertainer with Ranveer in the lead as a crazy and eccentric cop. One can only imagine a power packed collaboration between the ever energetic Ranveer and the ever enthusiastic filmmaker, Shetty.
Initially, there were talks of the makers choosing Janhvi Kapoor and later Sara Ali Khan for the role, but if the report by the leading daily is anything to go by, looks like the South actress has trumped the star kids in their race to bag the role. In one of her previous interviews, Priya had admitted to be a die-hard Ranveer Singh fan and looks like her dream of sharing screen space with the actor is all set to come true. We can’t be more excited for this interesting combination. Don’t you agree?
