1st ODI India vs New Zealand: Former India skipper MS Dhoni seems to be getting better with age, be it his reflexes or his decision-making. The stumping of Lockie Fergusson in the first ODI at Napier was a testament to that. He was quick to remove the bails and he was convinced that was out. Initially, the umpires gave it a long, hard thought, but it seemed the conviction in Dhoni’s appeal prompted the umpires to send it upstairs for a review. The third umpire too, gave it a long thought, before giving the decision in India’s favour. The entire episode played out in the 36th over of the match.

Yet, Mohammed Shami bagged the Man of the Match for his three wickets at the top to set the hosts back, up early in the match. He also became the fastest Indian bowler to 100 ODI wickets. After the match, news came in that Virat Kohli has been rested for the last two ODIs and the T20I series. Rohit Sharma will be the interim captain.
