1st ODI Sydney: At the age of 37, former India captain MS Dhoni has been consistently showing unmatched commitment on the ground like none other. Known to set very high standards of fitness, Dhoni once again gave a demo to the world of his lightning quick reflexes and feet between the 22-yard strip. In the 1st ODI between Australia and India, Dhoni pinched a quick single in the 26th over after dropping the delivery on the off side. The non-striker Rohit Sharma also responded well to the call as it looked extremely close as the fielder had already got to the ball.
But, just like a tiger on the prowl – Dhoni made a full stretch dive that saved him in the end. Along with Rohit, he went on to get a 100+-run partnership to bail India out of a crisis situation. Aat 37y 189d, Dhoni is also the oldest wicketkeeper to appear in ODI at the SCG since AJ Stewart, at 39y 290d, for England v Australia on 23 January 2003. Dhoni’s knock eventually ended on 51 as Behrendorff got his wicket. This is MS Dhoni’s highest score since January 2018 in ODIs. His previous highest score was 42* against South Africa at Johannesburg in 2018.
Here is the effort by Dhoni that is winning the internet:
