1st ODI Sydney: India’s got off to the worst possible start as they lost three wickets inside the first five overs chasing 289 to win in the ongoing 1st ODI. Things got worse when India skipper Virat Kohli was out for three. He was dismissed by Jhye Richardson off a ball on his legs which he flicked and hit it straight to the fielder at short square leg. One has to laud the exceptionally good field placement knowing well that Kohli has the tendency of playing the ball uppishly in that region once in a while. Kohli was expected to be the key once Dhawan fell for a golden duck.

Here is the dismissal:

Earlier in the day, Australia won the toss and opted to bat first but did not get off to a great start as they lost their openers within the powerplay overs. Marsh, Khawaja, Handscomb hit half-centuries to resurrect the hosts to a decent stage. Australia ended with 288/5.

At the time of filing the copy, Dhoni was in the middle on 0* and Rohit was on 6*. Ambati Rayudu, who walked in at the fall of Kohli did not last long as he departed for a duck. India would hope the two can combine well and get India close to the win.
