Virat Kohli & Co. finally ended a 10-year drought of winning the Test match against Australia in Australia as they stunned hosts by 31 runs in the first of four-match Test series in Adelaide. The match went down to the wire as we witnessed a gruelling neck-to-neck battle with the bat and the ball from both Australia and India. India’s No. 3 – Cheteshwar Pujara dished out a memorable performance with the bat to emerge as India’s hero of the 1st Test, his knock of 123 runs in first innings and 71 runs in the second innings eventually proved out to be the difference between the two sides. Meanwhile, spinner Nathan Lyon left a massive impact on the Indian batting line-up, he scalped 8 wickets for the hosts in the match.

5. The Pant-Lyon battle:

In the post-lunch session of day 4, the 21-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman smashed 18 runs in an over to the Australian spinner Lyon. He smashed three fours and a six in a row, which helped the took India’s lead over to 300- run mark. Meanwhile, in the next over the Aussie off-spinner had the last laugh as he bamboozled Pant with slower outside-off delivery which resulted as a catch in the hands of wicketkeeper Tim Paine.

4. The Cummins-Rahul sledging saga:

The incident happened in the 11th over of India’s second innings, when opener KL Rahul failed to hit the ball through the covers, to which pacer Pat Cummins came up to him and shared a few words. Meanwhile, on the next ball, Rahul gave a perfect reply to the Aussie quick as he smashed the short-wide ball to the boudary. Here’s video:

3. Ashwin’s ignorance left Rohit embarrassed: 

This moment got captured when Indians were going for the tea break, immediately after grabbing the wicket of Australia opener Aaron Finch on day 4. While walking back to the pavilion, Rohit Sharma walks up to Ashwin for a handshake but he was completely ignored by the veteran offie, leaving former embarrassed.

Yes, the most aggressive captain in the world was caught by the cameras sharing a light moment during the tense encounter between Australia and India. On day 3, when India took control of the proceedings – Kohli was seen shaking a leg on the field in Adelaide. It perfectly summed up the spirit of the visitors who choked Kangaroos with their tidy bowling effort.

1. ‘Chirpy’ Rishabh Pant Irates Cummins:

After failing to contribute with the bat, wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant left no stone unturned to get under the skin of Aussies from behind the stumps. He took on Pat Cummins this time not with the bat, but with the words. On the final day of the Test, he tried to irritate Cummins, who was looking to block deliveries against Indian spinner Ashwin. “Come on Pat – you’re not putting the bad ball away!,” Pant said to Cummins. “Tough to play here,” he added.
