Meanwhile, Indian cricket team created history at Adelaide by defeating Australia by 31 runs. This is the first time India has won the first Test of the series in Australia. This is also their first win in a decade and their sixth win in Australia. Cheteshwar Pujara bagged the Man of the Match for his 123 and 71 in the two innings. The bowlers upped their game and came to the party in both the innings to help India take a 1-0 lead in the four-match Test series.
At the post-match presentation after the match, Kohli, speaking on how close it was, he said, “These things happen in Tests, ups and downs through a game. You need to just stay calm. Odds were stacked against them. They fought really well but we executed our plans well and got that last wicket which were intending to get. (Whether he felt the heat) I wouldn’t say I was cool as ice but you just don’t try to show it.”
The second Test starts on December 14 and the Australians have a lot of thinking to do ahead of that.
