2nd India vs Australia Adelaide: Dinesh Karthik once again did what he does best, he chipped in with an all-important 14-ball 25 and carried his bat through as India beat Australia by six wickets to level the series 1-1. Yet, it was former captain MS Dhoni’s 55 off 54 balls unbeaten and the match-winning six is what stole the show. But Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin highlights the importance of Karthik’s knock, his role and why he is the best finisher in the world.

Ashwin’s post on Karthik read, “Just going through some batting numbers of @DineshKarthik over the last 18 months and its not surprising to see that he has become one of the best finishers in the world right now. Ashwin also goes on to reveal that this is how he always wanted his Tamil Nadu mate to play and he is happy that he is doing it now. This version of DK is all that he ever wanted to be, I am very happy for him.”

Earlier, chasing 299, India captain Virat Kohli stepped it up with a 104 off 112 balls to register his 39th century which laid the platform for Dhoni and Karthik in the end to seal the deal with a 57-run-stand.

Here is what Sachin Tendulkar had to say. His tweet read, “A great win and a fabulous innings by @imVkohli. Yet another at his adopted home ground😉. Excellent role played by @msdhoni and @DineshKarthik to take India over the line.”

India will now play the decider on January 18 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
