2nd T20I India vs New Zealand Predicted XI: After an 80-run hammering at Wellington, Rohit Sharma’s Men in Blue would look to level things at Auckland and for that, they could do with a little tinkering of the team. One feels Bhuvneshwar Kumar has had a long cricketing schedule and needs a rest ahead of the future series. Shami, who had had a breather sitting on the sidelines during the first T20I would be fresh and it would only help him if he gets more game time. The Bengal bowler has been in probably the best form of his life.

It felt strange that Vijay Shankar walked in at No 3, as he, one felt was in the side as an allrounder. If that was the case, he was not given the opportunity to bowl which was strange. So, if the management played him as a batsman then why not give young Shubman Gill a chance, who is down on confidence and needs to feel good about himself with some runs under his belt. That would do a world of good to his confidence.

The rest of the team remains the same. Rohit opens with Shikhar at the top, they have been a successful pair and there is no need of tinkering there.

“It was a tough game. We were outplayed in all three departments. We didn’t start well and we knew that 200 wasn’t going to be an easy chase,” Rohit said after the match.

“We have chased such (big) targets in the past and that is why we played with eight batsmen. But we didn’t have (even) small partnerships and that made it tougher. New Zealand though played well, they had partnerships. We need to go to Auckland, have a look at the conditions and take it from there,” he added.

India’s Predicted XI:
