2nd Test Australia vs India Perth: Former India legend Sachin Tendulkar lavished the biggest praise for India captain Virat Kohli after he slammed his 25th Test ton at Perth in the second Test against Australia. Tendulkar, who knows the Perth track as he had slammed a ton 26 years ago. Kohli has done it 26 years later, but it seems like he did it under more challenging conditions and Tendulkar recognised that and also said that it will be remembered years later. Tendulkar took to Twitter and his post read, “Well played @imVkohli. One of your finest innings. This knock will be remembered for a long time.”

Earlier, with his hundred Kohli (127) became the fastest Indian to register 25 Test centuries, he surpassed Sachin Tendulkar (130), Sunil Gavaskar (138). Kohli also went past Sachin Tendulkar for the highest Test average in SENA countries.

Virat Kohli also becomes the first Asian batsman to score a ton in each South Africa, England, and Australia in the same calendar year in Test cricket. Kohli also equaled Clive Llyod to register most Test tons as captain in Australia, both have four to their name. Kohli is also at No 2 when it comes to scoring most centuries as captain in international cricket, Kohli has 34, whereas Ponting is at the top of the tree with 41.

Kohli also became the fastest to 5000 runs in Test cricket at No 4.

Earlier, Ajinkya Rahane’s good show came to an end as Nathan Lyon picked up India’s vice-captain for 51 in the first over of Day 3. It is a big wicket in the context of the game as Rahane and Kohli were looking well-set and they were piling on the agony for Australia and slowly but surely taking the game beyond their reach. The wicket has sure given them an opening. It was the fourth ball of the day and it seemed a bit too casual from the Indian vice-captain there.
