2nd Test, Australia vs India: India skipper Virat Kohli smashed his 25th Test ton and one of his best ever as it was a lively pitch of the new stadium at Perth he got it against a bowling attack which is really good. Kohli came in when India was reeling at 8 for 2, Murali Vijay and KL Rahul had succumbed to the fiery pace of the Australian new ball bowlers, Josh Hazlewood, and Mitchell Starc. Kohli launched a counter-attack, where he smashed four boundaries of the first ten balls he had faced and he had straightaway made the hosts pay for overpitching the ball.

After getting off to a flier, Kohli settled down and started playing normal cricket, where he was more than happy to put away the new balls and leave anything outside the off stump, something that brought about his dismissals at Adelaide.

This is a century Kohli will rate highly as it came at a time when the team needed him the most. He is the No 1 batsman in the world in ODI and Tests and he is certainly showing the world why is that the case. He has already amassed more than 2500 runs across formats and has done it for three years, which is a massive reason why India today is a team to reckon with. He also completed 1000 runs outside Asia in 2018. Kohli also went past Sachin Tendulkar for the highest Test average in SENA countries. Virat Kohli now only the third India batsman to score 1000 runs in away Tests in a calendar year. Previous two: Mohinder Amarnath (1065 runs in 1983) and Rahul Dravid (1137 runs in 2002). 6th Test century in Australia for Virat Kohli. Now equals the Sachin Tendulkar record of scoring, the most test centuries in Australia by an Indian.

Here is how Twitter reacted to his ton:

At the time of filing the copy, India was 209/4 with Hanuma Vihari showing great temperament and is supporting Kohli, he is on 18 as India is closing in on the Australian score.
