Australia vs India 2018 2nd Test Day 1: After winning the crucial toss, Australian openers – Marcus Harris and Aaron Finch displayed magnificent grit and determination to provide the hosts a solid platform on day one of the second Test against India in Perth. Aussies knitted a crucial 112-run stand for the first wicket to be in the driver’s seat before Jasprit Bumrah draws first blood for the visitors as he removes Aaron Finch for 50. However, it was Hanuma Vihari, who provided the visitor’s biggest breakthrough of the day as he scalped the big fish – Harris for 70.
It was a masterstroke from captain Virat Kohli just before the tea on day one. The wicket has to do more with the pitch not much with the skill. It’s just day 1 and the cracks have already started to open and widen. The delivery by Vihari was a touch short outside off, Harris looks to cut but suddenly, out of nowhere, the ball bounces off the crack and cramps him for room. He cannot do anything apart from fend and unluckily for him, the ball hits the glove and lobs over Rishabh Pant to Ajinkya Rahane at first slip. Vihari was mobbed by his teammates.
Earlier, Australia won the toss and elected to bat first in the second Test in Perth after India captain Virat Kohli called wrong. Australia have fielded an unchanged XI into the match, while India were forced into two changes following injuries to ace spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and hard-hitting batter Rohit Sharma. Rohit jarred his back in the field during the first Test, while Ashwin suffered a left-side abdominal strain.
