2nd Test Perth Australia vs India: Umesh Yadav proved his selection right by picking big fish Usman Khawaja for merely five runs. Khawaja was stuck at one end, not getting singles and the shot he played was quite uncharacteristic of him as he was dismissed after playing 38 balls. Khawaja looked to throw the kitchen sink at a short and wide delivery from Umesh, only to find an edge which was comfortably pouched by young Rishabh Pant. It seems the extra bounce did the trick as India picked up their second wicket after Bumrah got rid of Finch for a well-made 50. Khawaja has not been having a good series. He has hit merely one boundary after facing 200 balls in the series. In the absence of Steve Smith and David Warner, the onus was on Khawaja to step it up, but he failed and that has put Australia in a spot of bother.
Here is his dismissal:
Meanwhile, it was a sensational comeback from India. After a brief period post Lunch where they struggled in keeping the runs down, they have owned this session, picking up 3 wickets, which included both the set batsmen. With the heat forcing the cracks to open and widen, the batsmen are finding it more and more difficult to play.
Just goes to show you that a Test match is never over till it is actually over. At 112/0, the Aussies might have felt on top of the world, as the number 1 Test team was struggling to pick up a wicket. But suddenly, in the space of 79 balls, three have gone by and they now have two new batsmen out in the middle.
