2nd Test Perth: Pat Cummins may have got the better of the India captain in Perth, but not before Virat Kohli smashed his 25th Test century at Perth. A century which will be among his best ever. Cummins had earlier said that Kohli will not get a century on the tour got trolled after Virat Kohli brought up his record-breaking 25th Test ton. It was Cummins who dismissed Kohli after the India captain edged one to Peter Handscomb. The catch taken by Handscomb came under the scanner as it was not clear if it touched the ground or not. “My brave, bold prediction – I’d say I think Virat Kohli is not going to get a hundred and we’re going to knock them off over here,” he said in Sydney on Tuesday, 11 July, at an event.
The statement faced backlash on social space, here is how the Australian bowler got trolled.
Earlier on Day 3, Kohli brought up his 25th Test century. Kohli (127) became the fastest Indian to register 25 Test centuries, he surpassed Sachin Tendulkar (130), Sunil Gavaskar (138). Kohli also went past Sachin Tendulkar for the highest Test average in SENA countries.
Virat Kohli also becomes the first Asian batsman to score a ton in each South Africa, England, and Australia in the same calendar year in Test cricket. Kohli also equaled Clive Llyod to register most Test tons as captain in Australia, both have four to their name. Kohli is also at No 2 when it comes to scoring most centuries as captain in international cricket, Kohli has 34, whereas Ponting is at the top of the tree with 41.
Kohli also became the fastest to 5000 runs in Test cricket at No 4.
