Former India captain MS Dhoni looks in the zone on the eve of the 3rd ODI in Ranchi. He was spotted having a hit in the nets and looked to smash the ball like never before. He was attacking the bowlers in the net. This could very well be Dhoni’s last appearance for India in his home ground and he is leaving no stone unturned to make it special. Rishabh Pant and Kedar Jadhav also seemed to have had a net as Bhuvneshwar Kumar was spotted rolling his arm over. The buzz in Ranchi started as soon as Dhoni landed in the city and walked out of the airport. Fans had turned up in huge numbers to get a glimpse of their local hero. Dhoni also gave Kedar and Pant a ride on his hummer from the airport and then hosted the entire team for dinner at his swanky residence in Ranchi.

It would be interesting to see if Pant and Bhuvi get picked as they missed out the last two ODIs. Having taken a 2-0 lead in the ongoing five-match ODI series, the Men in Blue would ideally look to seal it and take an unassailable 3-0 lead at Ranchi.

Earlier, Dhoni politely declined the request to inaugurate the pavilion named after him at the JSCA Stadium, ahead of India’s third ODI against Australia.

“At the AGM last year, the decision was taken that the North Block stand that comprises media enclosure as well as VIP boxes would be named after Dhoni,” Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) secretary Debashis Chakraborty told PTI on Wednesday.

However, Dhoni didn’t agree to inaugurate the stand, said Chakraborty.

“We requested him but he said ‘Dada apne hi ghar mein kya inaugurate karna (What’s there to inaugurate in my own house). He is still so humble and down to earth,” Chakraborty said.
