3rd Test Australia vs India Melbourne: It was an eventful 87th over of the match as India captain Virat Kohli was dropped by his Australian counterpart Tim Paine when on 47. Mitchell Starc was the bowler and he was mightily disappointed as he went wicketless on Day 1 of the Boxing Day Test. At stumps, India was 215/2 with Kohli unbeaten on 47 and Pujara was batting on 68. The Starc delivery held its line, went straight through as Kohli ended up driving for the swing coming in. Gets the outside toe-end of his bat, Paine dives low to his right, gets it in his palm too, but can’t stick on.
Here is the video:
Kohli raced off to 24 off 24 balls, before he settled down. He played some brilliant straight drives and played his favourite cover drive as well.
Meanwhile, Mayank Agarwal did everything possible to leave a lasting impact in his first international outing for India in a highly-anticipated Boxing Day contest against Australia as he scored a brilliant 76. The India opener passed the test with flying colours while taking on Australia’s daunting pace battery at the iconic MCG. But, just before the Tea on day 1, the nerves got the better of the young opener as he got a brilliant delivery from fast-bowling warhorse Pat Cummins.
Before getting dismissed, debutant Mayank produced a confident 76-run knock as India made a steady start to the third Test against Australia at the MCG. The visitors did not put many runs on the board, taking tea ay 123 for two, as the batsmen largely remained cautious in the first two sessions.
