5th ODI: Australian opener Usman Khawaja has been a major reason why visitors find themselves in a good situation in the ongoing five-match ODI series. He has already slammed a ton in the series. He already has three fifties in the series and nearly missed out on a hundred in Mohali where he was out for 91. Khawaja has broken AB de Villiers’ record for amassing most runs against India in India in a five-match ODI series. At the time filing the copy, Khawaja was on 366* (looking good for more), whereas De Villiers has 358 runs in India in 2015. This is also the highest runs against India in a bilateral five-match ODI series anywhere. Khawaja went past Kane Williamson to this feat. The Kiwi captain had achieved this feat in New Zealand in 2014. Williamson had 361 runs to his name in that particular series.
Most runs in a five-match ODI series against India:
366* – USMAN KHAWAJA,
2019 (And counting)*
361 – Kane Williamson, 2014
358 – AB de Villiers, 2015
He also broke a Chris Gayle record. Both Khawaja and Gayle have four centuries against India in a bilateral series.
