New Delhi: In a jubilant atmosphere, Abhishek Sharma started the second innings with a big six when India defeated the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the Asia Cup 2025 match. He displayed the same aggressive attitude during the Indo-Pak match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. He made ground on Shaheen Shah Afridi’s balls to put pressure on the team captained by Salman Ali Agha.
On the second ball of the chase, Abhishek made room, bent his bat and sent the ball brilliantly to the long off region — a huge six. On the first ball of the third over, he bent his waist, opened the face of the bat and hit Shaheen’s ball towards backward deep point, then another four through mid-wicket. Three fours and two sixes came off his bat before he left the pavilion.
Abhishek Sharma’s batting reflected both power and timing. On one occasion, he hit a four in the extra-cover area by moving the ball from outside the leg-stump, then sent a tossed-up delivery towards wide extra-cover where the ball slipped out of the fielder’s hand despite his dive. But in the end, he was out after scoring 31 runs in just 13 balls, while cricket lovers had expected a bigger innings from him.

India established a good position by scoring 61/2 runs in the first six overs. The bowling of Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy and Axar Patel together gave India such momentum that Pakistan’s team was all out for 127 runs. Shaheen Afridi, on the other hand, made the innings interesting by scoring 33* runs in 16 balls with a strike rate of 206.75.
