The most sought-after batsman in modern day cricket, AB de Villiers has become a father after wife Danielle gave birth to a baby boy. The ace South African batsman opted out of his team’s ongoing tour in Bangladesh and chose be by his his wife’s side. A visibly delighted De Villiers posed for photos with his newborn and his in-laws were also present at the hospital to catch a glimpse of their grandchild. De Villiers and Danielle dated for many years before they entered wedlock. On one of the Indian Premier League (IPL) tours, he proposed to Danielle in front of the iconic Taj Mahal.

This year though, has been mixed bag for De Villiers. Despite going into the ICC World Cup 2015 as favourites, the South Africans failed to impress and had a tearful exit in the semi-finals. The South African One-Day International (ODI) captain was also part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore outfit, which failed to reach the Indian Premier League (IPL) finals. Turning a father will come as a whiff of fresh air for South Africa’s poster boy.
The photos were first shared by Danielle’s father, John Swart. He posted on his Facebook page, ” Today I became a grandfather! Abraham Benjamin De Villiers (III) was born at 12:01 and weighed 3.2Kg. He is a good looking and healthy boy. We feel blessed and we are very grateful!”
