Defending champions Afghanistan A team will go up against Bangladesh A in their second Group A matches of the ongoing ACC Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025 at the West End Park International Stadium in Doha on Monday. Both Afghanistan and Bangladesh started off their campaigns with impressive wins over Sri Lanka A and Hong Kong respectively last week.
Darwish Rasooli’s Afghanistan team hammered the Lankans by three wickets led by Sediqullah Atal’s 27-ball 54 with five sixes and three fours. Skipper Rasooli chipped in with 32 off 22 balls while opener Imran scored 34 off 21 balls with three fours and 2 sixes as Afghanistan chased down 171-run target with one ball to spare.
Pacer Bilal Sami was the pick of the bowlers with 4/45 in 4 overs while Mumbai Indians mystery spinner Allah Ghazanfar picked up 3/32 in 4 overs to restrict the Lankans to 170 for 9. Bangladesh, on the other hand, took just 11 overs to chase down 170 to win against minnows Hong Kong.
Bangladesh opener Habibur Rahman Sohan smashed a century in 35 balls with 10 sixes and six fours. Skipper Akbar Ali provided the finishing touches to the game with five successive sixes against Kinchit Shah in his 41 not out off 13 balls.
The winner of this contest will be almost assured of a berth in the semifinal stage to join Pakistan A in the last four.
