Afghanistan will begin a three-match ODI series against Bangladesh after a 3-0 whitewash in the T20I series against the same opponents last week. The first game of the three-match ODI series will get underway at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.
Both Afghanistan and Bangladesh have won two bilateral series each between the two Asian countries. However, Bangladesh hold a slight 11-8 edge in head-to-head ODI contests between the two sides.
In current form, Afghanistan have lost just one out of their last five ODI matches while Bangladesh have just won one out of their last five one-dayers. Bangladesh are likely to hand debut to big-hitting opening batter Saif Hassan, who had scored an impressive fifty against India in the Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 match last month.
Hashmatullah Shahidi’s Afghanistan, on the other hand, may include either Nangeyalia Kharote or Allah Ghazanfar in their bowling attack apart from bolstering their batting with Darwish Rasooli.
