Afghanistan’s Hazratullah Zazai became an overnight sensation after he smashed a world record 62-ball 162 and he also remained unbeaten. During his game, despite being a left-hander he showed glimpses of being an MS Dhoni fan. Zazai played a mid boggling modified helicopter shot. It did not go all the way for a six but fetched four runs to Zazai. Zazai’s innings was laced with 16 sixes and 11 fours as he stitched a world record 236-run partnership with Usman Ghani. It was the startling partnership that helped Afghanistan enter the record books by registering the highest total in T20I cricket. Afghanistan scored 278/3 in their stipulated 20 overs.

Here is the video of the bizarre shot:

In response, Ireland ended with 194 for 6 with skipper Paul Stirling (91 off 50) being with the top-scorer. Star spinner Rashid Khan ended with four wickets, conceding 25 runs in four overs.

Hazratullah’s unbeaten 162 was the highest score by an Asian batsman in T20 Internationals. It was also the second highest T20I score and the third-fastest men’s century.

In the second T20I, Afghanistan took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series against Ireland after amassing the highest total in T20 Internationals, 278 for 3, which led to an 84-run win in the second game.

Both teams will also play five ODIs and one Test after the T20 series.
