Arsenal continued to bask on their impressive run of form as they edged past Sporting Lisbon with a 1-0 victory at the UEFA Europa League in Lisbon on Thursday.

Danny Welbeck capitalized on a defensive error by former Liverpool defender Sebastian Coates at the 78th as the Gunners extended their lead at the top of the table in Group E of the on-going Europa League.

Unai Emery’s men have been on scintillating form as they extended their consecutive winning run to eleven, earlier in the week, Arsenal outclassed Leicester City in the Premier League with a 3-1 win.

Arsenal’s form has been of great joy to supporters, this is the club’s best form since 2007’s 22-game unbeaten run, which was put to an end by the unexpected Middlesborough at the Premier League in early December.

The North London side currently stands fourth in the Premier League behind Chelsea on points difference as defending champions Manchester City remains on top, followed by Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

Early in the season, the Gunners suffered two consecutive defeats by title-rivals Manchester City and Chelsea, but since then Arsenal stepped up in sensational fashion.

New manager Unai Emery has insisted that the club still needs to improve and there are still a number of shortcomings which needs to be addressed. Emery replaced Arsenal’s legendary manager Arsene Wenger after his 21-years service at the club.

Arsenal will aim to keep their form running and prove their mettle against the other big four of the league, where pundits suggest the club comes short, however, to keep their silverware dreams alive the Gunners will be hoping to find a way in the big matches of the season to come.
