India vs Pakistan, Asia Cup 2018, 5th ODI Highlights: Rohit Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kedar Jadhav Star as India Thump Pakistan By 8 Wickets
India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2018: Rohit Sharma's blazing half-century leads a comfortable chase for India after a dominant bowling performance saw Pakistan dismissed for just 162. The men in blue won the match by 8 wickets.
India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2018, Highlights: India registered a comprehensive win over Pakistan by eight wickets in a group league Asia Cup encounter on Wednesday. Batting first, Pakistan were bowled out for 162 in 43.1 overs with Babar Azam contributing 47 and Shoaib Malik scored 43. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Kedar Jadhav took three wickets apiece while Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets.
In reply, skipper Rohit Sharma scored 52 off 39 balls while Shikhar Dhawan contributed 46 off 54 balls with India reaching the target in 29 overs.
Earlier, Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s tidy seam bowling was complemented by Kedar Jadhav’s unconventional off-breaks as India skittled out Pakistan for a modest 162 in 43.1 overs in an Asia Group league encounter on Wednesday. While Bhuvneshwar (3/15) provided initial breakthroughs, Jadhav, making a comeback to the national team, bowled with control to return with exceptional figures of 3 for 23 in 9 overs to break the backbone of the Pakistani lower middle-order.
Jasprit Bumrah (2/23 in 7.1 overs) and chinaman Kuldeep Yadav (1/37 in 8 overs) also accomplished their task to perfection. Jadhav’s performance is even more laudable as he did the job of a frontline spinner after Hardik Pandya (0/24 in 4.5 overs) was stretchered off the field due to an acute lower back injury.
This was after young Babar Azam (47) and veteran Shoaib Malik (43) added 82 runs for the third wicket and looked like taking control of the proceedings.
However, Pakistan suffered a batting collapse losing five wickets for 36 runs before Faheem Ashraf (21) and Mohammed Aamir (16) added an invaluable 37 runs for the eighth wicket to take the total past 150-run mark.
Speaking to media, skipper Rohit Sharma had said, “It’s always exciting to play Pakistan, but it’s not about one team as well. There are other teams also eyeing the title.” India will be without the services of their star batsman Virat Kohli.
However, Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed feels Kohli’s absence will not make much of a difference and his team will have to be at their absolute best to beat the number two ranked team in the world. “No doubt he (Kohli) is their captain and a world-class batsman but I think they (India) have a good team even without Kohli. They have good players who have done well for India. So, I don’t think it will make much difference to India. Their batting is very strong so I can say that it will be a good match,” Sarfraz had said in the press conference.
Overall, India and Pakistan have played 12 games against each other in the Asia Cup tournament (11 ODI and 1 T20I), with India emerging victorious on six occasions, Pakistan on five and one match ending without any result.

India vs Pakistan, Asia Cup 2018 Live Updates: Defending a below-par total, Pakistan needed their star fast bowlers to pick some quick wickets with the new ball but that didn’t happen. After that their bowling looked quite ordinary and the injury to Shadab Khan didn’t help their cause much.

India vs Pakistan, Asia Cup 2018 Live Updates: A walk in the park for India! So much build-up was given to this game but it failed to live up to the expectations. It was a flop show from the Pakistan batting as they managed a paltry total on the board. The Indian openers provided a flying start and that in itself nearly sealed the deal. Rohit Sharma, in particular, looked in scintillating form and notched up a fifty. Shikhar Dhawan also stroked a valiant 46 to back up his century yesterday, thereby showing that he has truly returned to form after a dismal English tour.
