Putting aside all the disappointments of the recently-concluded tour to England, Team India are back in action and looks hungry as ever to defend their Asia Cup title in UAE. The six-nation tournament will begin in Dubai on September 15 on Saturday. The opening match will be played between Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

With Cricket World Cup 2019 still eight months away, the Asia Cup will provide a perfect platform to the men in blue to find a “perfect combination” going into next year’s mega event in England.

On Friday, Indian team’s limited-overs specialists – MS Dhoni, stand-in captain Rohit Sharma, bowling spearhead Bhuvneshwar Kumar and IPL star Ambati Rayudu were seen in action as they put in the hard yards during their first nets session in Dubai.

The experienced trio of Dhoni, Rohit and Bhuvi were last seen in action for India during the three-match ODI series against England. Later, both Rohit and Bhuvi were dropped from India’s Test squad versus England.

Whereas, for Rayudu – the upcoming Asia Cup will be a great chance to cement his place in the Team India’s shaky middle-order.

The 32-year old Rayudu played an instrumental role in Chennai Super Kings title march in this year’s edition of Indian Premier League. He scored 602 runs for CSK in 16 games at an outstanding average of 43.

India will begin their Asia Cup campaign against Hong Kong on September 18 before taking on arch-rivals Pakistan, the next day on September 19.
