With Tilak Varma’s brilliant half-century, India defeated Pakistan by five wickets in the Asia Cup final on Sunday to win their second T20 Asia Cup title. India bowled out Pakistan for just 146 runs and chased the target of 147 with two balls left.
Tilak remained not out on 69 from 53 balls, while Shivam Dube added a quick 33 from 22 balls. Together, they built a crucial 60-run stand for the fifth wicket.
Earlier, spinner Kuldeep Yadav starred with the ball, taking 4 wickets for 30 runs in 4 overs. Varun Chakaravarthy (2/30), Axar Patel (2/26), and Jasprit Bumrah (2/25) also took important wickets after India chose to bowl first.
Pakistan started strong, thanks to openers Sahibzada Farhan (57 off 38) and Fakhar Zaman (46 off 35), who added 84 runs in under 10 overs. But once India’s spinners came into action, they took quick wickets, and Pakistan collapsed, losing their last 9 wickets for just 33 runs.
This was India’s third win over Pakistan in this Asia Cup, after beating them in the league stage and Super 4s.
