In a dramatic comeback from injury after eight months, Vinesh Phogat on Friday won the silver medal in the Asian Wrestling Championships.
She lost 8-4 to Sae Nanjo of Japan in the 55-kg freestyle final.
In her comeback match, she fought hard but fell short to the Japanese player.
Nanjo kept reaching for Phogat’s leg to pin and topple her.
A huge takedown in the fifth minute by Phogat earned her a point. However, Phogat fell short and ended up in the losing side 8-4.
Sevara Eshmuratova of Uzbekistan was brushed aside in the semifinal as Phogat won by a 10-0 margin, courtesy a technical fall.
