Australia vs India 1st Test Adelaide: India vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane is known to be close to India A, and U19 coach Rahul Dravid. Rahane is also known to walk up to ‘The Wall’ when he needs advice on technique. The two cricketers have also represented Rajasthan Royals in the cash-rich Indian Premier League. Ahead of the ongoing four-match Test series, Rahane got his bat signed by Dravid and that is the bat he used for the Adelaide Test.

Dravid had written, ‘Best Wishes’ for India’s vice-captain before the series as they were together in New Zealand for the first of the three unofficial Tests.

The wishes may not have worked as Rahane could merely muster 13 runs off 31 balls. Ajinkya Rahane fell prey to a horrific shot of a Josh Hazlewood wide ball. It was on his sixth or seventh stump and Rahane did not have to play it, but he threw his hands at it only to get and edge which was taken by Peter Handscomb at slip.

Earlier in the day, Kohli won the toss and elected to bat first in the scorching morning at Adelaide, India sent their right-hand batsmen KL Rahul and Murali Vijay to open the innings. With some accurate bowling and brilliant fielding efforts, Australian bowlers easily unsettled the opening pair who looked tentative on the crease.

India lost their first wicket in the form of KL Rahul who played a loose shot off Josh Hazelwood’s delivery and was caught by Aaron Finch at the third slip. Rahul departed at a paltry score of 2 runs.
