Australia vs India 3rd Test: Former Australian legend Matthew Hayden feels Virat Kohli’s India will win the ongoing four-match Test series. The series is currently locked at 1-1 with two more Tests still to be played. India won the first Test at Adelaide by 31 runs but squandered away the lead at Perth where they succumbed to a loss by 46 runs. With two more Tests still to be played the former Australian southpaw feels India holds the edge.  Hayden feels India will emerge trumps because he feels the visitors have a more balanced squad and have depth in the bowling unit, especially when it comes to the spin department.

“I think India should clinch the series,” Hayden told Mumbai Mirror. “Why? Because, they have a balanced side, an extremely settled bowling unit, and depth in spin. It is hard to win away from home and this will prove to be no different. But India should win, they really are the favourites, they need good partnerships, which they have not had.”

Hayden, who featured in 103 Tests and amassed 8625 runs at a staggering average of 50.73, agrees with Shastri saying the team India has sent to Australia is the ‘most complete’ to have ever toured the country.

“I think it is. I think it is the most complete Indian team to have ever toured (Australia). India have incredible batting depth, it is very confident in the spin bowling department, it is good in fast bowling too. The young wicketkeeper (Rishabh Pant) is a real breath of fresh air, he will be very good find for Test cricket. The fast bowling unit speaks for itself. Bhuvneshwar Kumar is not even playing in the XI,” Hayden observed.

The Boxing Day Test starts from December 26 which will soon be followed by the new year Test which will be played at Sydney, starting January 3.
