Australia vs India 3rd Test Melbourne: Ahead of the Boxing Day Test against Australia, Indian Cricket Team saw a lot of off-field drama on Sunday. From head coach Ravi Shastri’s disclosure about injuries of players like Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Rohit Sharma to BCCI’s official statement about the availability of the all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja for the upcoming Test. And, it seems there’s one more good news for Virat Kohli and Co. as frontline spinner Ashwin was seen hitting the nets on Monday morning.
Here’s the video of Ashwin bowling in the nets of MCG:
Ashwin missed out on the Perth Test as he had picked up an abdominal strain, and it seems he is trying to overcome the strain and proving his worth by bowling hard in the nets. There is still no news on Rohit Sharma and in all probability, Hanuma Vihari, who picked up wickets and showed good temperament with the bat will retain his place in the squad for the Melbourne Test. It is an important Test match from the point of view of both the teams as the four-match Test series is locked at 1-1. India won the first Test at Adelaide by 31 runs and then Australia came back strong to clinch the Perth Test by 46 runs.
Whereas the opening has been a serious matter of concern for India, and with Prithvi Shaw getting ruled out of the series, it becomes even tougher for the captain Virat Kohli to choose the best combination against the hosts as s the opening pair of Murali Vijay and KL Rahul have failed. Rahul has scored 48 runs in four innings whereas Vijay has bettered it by a run. So, it seems Mayank Agarwal could be handed over his debut cap in the third test, which will be played in Melbourne.
The Boxing Day Test starts from December 26 which will soon be followed by the new year Test which will be played at Sydney, starting January 3.
