Australia vs South Africa: Steve Smith plays a weird shot against Proteas spinner Keshav Maharaj, watch full video

Australian skipper Steve Smith has probably played the riskiest shot ever in the history of cricket. Smith on day two morning came to bat after opener David Warner and Usman Khawaja’s dismissals. Australia got off to a great start when David Warner and Shaun Marsh built a 158 runs first wickets partnership. When Warner was at the crease everything seems everything rosy for Australia, but as Dale Steyn sent back Warner, the rest of the Australian side were bowled out for 244 runs. Proteas spinner Keshav Maharaj has taken four wickets, Australian captain Steve Smith was one of the victims. Smith dismissal created a controversy as he played a weird   shot. You can watch the full video of his dismissal and twitter reactions later in the article.

Smith has come to bat at No. 4 after Usman Khawaja’s dismissal. Smith has just played four balls before tried to play an outrageous shot when debutante Keshav Maharaj delivered a juicy delivery. Smith completely missed the length, as a result, the ball hit his left pad. Young Keshav Maharaj appealed for it, umpire Aleem Dar raised his finger, but Smith was annoyed with this decision.  Steve Smith is known for his infamous outrageous shot. His technique is not great but managed to score a plethora of runs in Test cricket. He is one of the best batsmen in the world.

Smith went for a review, but the third umpire found nothing unusual, so he asked Aleem Dar to stick with his decision. Keshav Maharaj took two more wickets. After Smith’s dismissal South African bowlers removed the inexperienced tail. Vernon Philander and Keshav Maharaj have taken four and three wickets respectively. As Australia bowled out for 244 South Africa came to bat in the second innings and ended the day two with 104 for 2 on board. The match has already turned into an existing one. Now South African have to score heavily. Earlier on Day-One Australian bowlers bowled really well and broke the spine of the South African batting line-up. South Africans were all out for 242 runs. The Perth pitch has already started assisting the bowlers, but the South African after losing two wickets for 40 runs, opener Dean Elgar and JP Duminy have built a 64 runs partnership that helped the visitors to recovered from the early setback. Now with three days in hand South Africans have to play one and a half days so they can post a massive total on board. (BCCI vs Lodha Committee: India versus England series in doubt?)
