The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction came to an end in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday. Rajasthan Royals spent Rs 13.4 crore from their purse of Rs 16.05 crore to buy 9 players at the auction ahead of the IPL 2026 season.

However, there was some bad news for the Royals as their star opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has been hospitalized. Jaiswal, who was turning out for Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy 2025 Super League match in Pune on Tuesday, was taken to Aditya Birla Hospital in Pimpri-Chinchwad.

According to media reports, Jaiswal complained about stomach in the middle of the SMAT 2025 match which intensified after the clash against Rajasthan which Mumbai won by three wickets. The Rajasthan Royals opener was diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis.

The Mumbai and Team India opener has been administered IV medication and underwent ultrasound (USG) and CT scans at the hospital as well. He has since been advised to continue his medication and take adequate rest as a picture of Jaiswal went viral on social media.

Jaiswal was retained for Rs 18 crore by Rajasthan Royals ahead of the IPL 2026 season. He will be in contention to lead the Royals along with possibly Ravindra Jadeja or Riyan Parag next year with the departure of Sanju Samson to Chennai Super Kings through a pre-auction trade.

Jadeja and Sam Curran have joined the Royals from the CSK.  Jaiswal batted vs Rajasthan in spite of the discomfort and scored 15 off 16 balls as Mumbai chased down a target of 217 to win. Ajinkya Rahane’s unbeaten 72 and Sarfaraz Khan smashed 22-ball 73 powered Mumbai to victory, although they failed to reach the final.

Jaiswal played in three matches for Mumbai in SMAT 2025 after returning from the Team India ODI squad against South Africa. The Royals batter had scored his maiden ODI century in the third ODI against South Africa in Vishakapatnam last month.

He was reportedly in visible discomfort throughout the game, with the pain worsening post-match, prompting immediate medical attention. The BCCI is yet to issue an official update on his health, though further information is expected soon.

He scored 145 runs in three matches in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy at an average of 48.33 and a strike rate of 168.6. Jaiswal scored 101 in SMAT 2025 match against Haryana earlier this week.
