New Delhi: Bangladesh won a close match and now lead the 3-match T20I series 2-0, with one game left to play. Earlier in the day, Pakistan’s bowlers did a good job by taking early wickets. But a vital innings from Jaker Ali and a useful knock from Mahedi Hasan helped Bangladesh reach a decent total of 133. However, the start was not good, Mohammad Naim (3) was out in the very first over. After this, Liton Das (8) and Tauheed Hridoy (0) returned to the pavilion early. But Jaker Ali (55 runs, 48 balls, 1 four, 5 sixes) handled the innings and scored an important half-century.
Mahedi Hasan played a quick innings of 25 runs, which included 2 fours and 2 sixes. In the end, Tanjim Hasan (7) and Rishad Hasan (8) added some runs, which helped the team reach 133 runs. From Pakistan, Ahmed Daniyal and Abbas Afridi got 2-2 wickets, while Salman Mirza and Mohammad Nawaz got 1-1 wickets.
Chasing the target, Pakistan had a bad start. Saim Ayub (1) and Mohammad Haris (0) got out cheaply. Fakhar Zaman (8) was run out by Shoriful Islam. Shoriful took 3 wickets for 17 runs in 4 overs and broke the backbone of Pakistan’s batting.
Captain Salman Agha (9) and Hasan Nawaz (0) could not contribute anything. Mahedi Hasan took 2 wickets for 25 runs in 4 overs. Tanjim Hasan also took two important wickets, due to which Pakistan’s team had lost 6 wickets for 30 runs.
In the lower order, Faheem Ashraf raised hopes by playing a quick innings of 51 runs of 32 balls ( 4 fours, 4 six). Abbas Afridi also contributed 19 runs. But the team could not play the full 20 overs and was all out for 125 runs in 19.2 overs.
Shoriful Islam was the most successful bowler from Bangladesh, while Rishad Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman also took important wickets. Mustafizur gave only 15 runs in 3.2 overs and took one wicket. The collective performance of the bowlers helped Bangladesh win the thrilling match by 8 runs.
The team may have struggled in batting, but the bowlers took responsibility and won the match. Zakar Ali’s half-century and Shoriful’s deadly bowling were the main basis of this victory.
