Bangladesh got off to a winning start in the ICC World T20 2016 against Netherlands. However, the Tigers won by a narrow margin of eight runs while defending 154 as they restricted Netherlands to 145 for seven in 20 overs. Check out the full scorecard of the match here.
Put to bat first, Bangladesh got off to a shaky start lossing opener Soumya Sarkar in the fourth over. Sabbir Rahman then joined Tamim Iqbal, and the duo took Bangladesh past 50 runs with a 42-run stand for the second wicket. While Tamim was looking solid at one end, Bangladesh lost two wickets in quick succession in shape of Sabbir and Shakib Al Hassan. Also Check- Bangladesh vs Netherlands-As it Happened
Mahmudullah then put Bangladesh back on track along with Tamim. During this stand, Tamim went past his 4th T20I fifty. With Tigers looking for final onsluaght, couple of wickets in 15th over pegged them back.
Eventually, Tamim played a sheet anchor role and remained unbeaten on 83 off 58 balls. His knock included six fours and three sixes and took Bangladesh past 150-run mark.
In reply, Netherlands began cautiously but lost the opening wicket of Wesley Barresi in the fifth over. Stephan Myburgh and Ben Cooper then made sure Netherlands do not lose further wickets, and took thier side’s total past 50-run mark. At this stage it looked like Dutch had the match covered.
However, Netherlands kept losing wickets at regular intervals and the asking rate kept bulging. Needing 17 runs from last over, with Taskin Ahmed bowling economically, Netherlands managed just eight from it.
